HabitHeat v2.5 — February 09, 2026

This update introduces a brand-new Time-based Heatmap, improves visual feedback for running sessions,
adds better text length handling across the app, and expands theme switching to authentication pages.

What’s new

  • New Time Heatmap
    • Added a new Timer-based Heatmap for tracking time spent on habits
    • Start / Stop button for managing active timer sessions
    • Timer sessions are listed in a dedicated tab (similar to Number habits), with delete support
    • Clear visual indicators for running timers without opening the log dialog:
      • Running badge for active sessions
      • Animated gradient highlight on the active heatmap cell
      • Supported across Year, Month, and Week views
  • Improved tooltips & mini stats
    • Updated heatmap tooltips to show total tracked time
    • Displays 1–2 recent timer entries, with a “more” indicator when additional entries exist
    • Added mini statistics below the heatmap card for quick insights
  • Text length & overflow handling
    • Heatmap titles and descriptions are now length-limited to prevent layout overflow
    • Consistent truncation applied across:
      • Tooltips
      • Log Day dialog
      • Delete confirmation alerts
      • Create Habit flow
      • All toast messages
      • Analytics dropdown
  • Analytics (Timer – in progress)
    • Timer-based analytics are currently marked as in progress
    • More detailed timer insights will be added in a future update

    • The Light / Dark mode switcher is now available on Login and Signup pages

HabitHeat v2.4 — February 02, 2026

This update improves account management and feedback access, and introduces a brand-new
way to track qualitative habits using option-based heatmaps.

What’s new

  • Improved Account page
    • The Account page has been redesigned for better clarity and usability
    • Clear instructions have been added on how to request account deletion via email
  • Faster access to Feedback
    • A new Feedback entry has been added to the main menu for quicker access
  • Option-based Heatmaps
    • Introduced a new habit type called Options, designed for qualitative tracking
    • Perfect for habits like mood, energy level, focus quality, or daily state
    • Each habit can have up to 5 selectable options, each with its own color
    • Selections are visualized directly in the heatmap using the option’s color
    • Basic yearly statistics show how often each option was selected
  • Option Analytics (early stage)
    • Foundational support for option-based analytics is now in place
    • More detailed insights, breakdowns, and visualizations will arrive in a future update

HabitHeat v2.3 — January 29, 2026

This update focuses on navigation improvements, new calendar-style views, better mobile input behavior,
and a clearer app loading experience.

What’s new

  • Navigation improvements
    • The header is now sticky, so you can always open the sidebar without scrolling back to the top
  • Monthly & Weekly views
    • Added a new Monthly view
    • Added a new Weekly view
  • Autofocus & mobile input fixes
    • Prevented mobile zoom when focusing input fields
    • Number habits: the number input field now receives focus correctly
    • Checkbox habits: the journal field now receives focus correctly
  • Improved app loading start state
    • Updated the initial loading screen with a spinner and a short text for clearer feedback

HabitHeat v2.2 — January 27, 2026

This update focuses on transparency, performance improvements, and smoother loading behavior across the app.

What’s new

  • New changelog system
    • A dedicated Changelog entry is now available in the sidebar, separated from the main navigation
    • New updates are highlighted with a subtle indicator, which disappears after viewing
    • Major updates now include a one-time explanatory popup on first login
  • Performance improvements
    • Faster initial loading through improved lazy loading, especially on mobile devices
    • Analytics pages load noticeably quicker and feel more responsive
    • Overall smoother scrolling and interaction performance across the app

  • Reduced memory usage during long sessions
  • More predictable loading behavior when many habits are present

HabitHeat v2.1 — January 22, 2026

This update focuses on improving the mobile experience, refining analytics behavior,
and polishing everyday interactions across the app.

What’s new

  • Mobile experience improvements
    • Easier year selection on mobile devices
    • Sidebar now closes automatically after navigation
    • Improved analytics charts with better layout and touch interactions
  • Performance improvements
    • Habits now load progressively, reducing initial load times
    • Smoother scrolling and better responsiveness, especially with many habits
  • Analytics refinements
    • Streaks now reflect the current year or the best streak for past years
  • UI and usability polish
    • Refined checkbox log dialog: Save is now the primary action to prevent accidental unmarking
    • Simplified login and signup layout
    • Added a Support link to the user menu
    • Imprint and Privacy Policy are now accessible throughout the app

HabitHeat v2.0 (Relaunch) — January 18, 2026

This release marks the complete relaunch of HabitHeat. Version 2 is a full rebuild with a cleaner foundation,
improved performance, and a stronger focus on meaningful habit insights.

What’s new

  • Complete rebuild
    • New architecture and redesigned data model
    • More scalable foundation for future features and insights
  • Cleaner and more focused UI/UX
    • Simplified habit tracking experience
    • Improved daily logging and habit management

Important notes

  • The new version is available at app.habitheat.com
  • The previous version remains accessible at v1.habitheat.com in maintenance mode
  • Due to the complete rebuild, data from v1 cannot be migrated automatically

  • habitheat.com is now used as an information site
  • All future updates, changelogs, and announcements will be published there
  • Additional resources and content around habits and HabitHeat will be added over time

HabitHeat v2 has been released.
Version 1 is now in maintenance mode and will not receive new features.

Feedback & direction

A small feedback form was added after login to better understand how HabitHeat is being used.

The goal was to learn:

  • how people track their habits

  • what helps

  • what feels confusing or unnecessary

This feedback was collected to help decide the direction of a potential HabitHeat v2.

Project update & major changes

After a longer break, work on HabitHeat resumed with the goal of cleaning up the codebase and improving overall usability.

Key changes during this phase:

  • Analytics were introduced (Premium)

  • All heatmap types were made free

  • Unlimited habits became available for free users

  • Journaling was added for all users

  • Multiple daily entries were introduced for number-based tracking

  • Entries now include time of day for better insights

Notes

  • Analytics were still early and experimental at this stage

  • Pricing was intentionally kept low due to limited feature depth

  • Early insights already revealed interesting patterns (e.g. strong weekday effects)

The app was also temporarily reuploaded after a hosting move to restore availability.
