Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about HabitHeat, how it works, and how to get started.

General

HabitHeat is a habit tracking app that helps you build and understand your habits over time.
It focuses on clean tracking, clear visualizations, and meaningful insights rather than gamification or pressure.
The goal is not just to track habits, but to learn how your habits actually influence your daily life.

Yes. HabitHeat is currently completely free to use.
You can create unlimited habits and access all core tracking and analytics features.

You can track a wide range of daily habits, such as studying, meditation, exercise, reading, or any custom habit you want.

HabitHeat currently supports:

  • Checkbox habits (done / not done)
  • Number-based habits (for example minutes, repetitions, or counts)

More tracking types are planned for the future.

Yes. HabitHeat works on mobile devices as a Progressive Web App (PWA).
This means you can use it like a native app without installing it from an app store.

On iPhone (Safari):

  1. Open app.habitheat.com in Safari
  2. Tap the Share button
  3. Select Add to Home Screen

On Android (Chrome):

  1. Open app.habitheat.com in Chrome
  2. Tap the menu (three dots)
  3. Select Add to Home screen

Once added, HabitHeat behaves like a regular app and can be opened directly from your home screen.

Versions & Changes

HabitHeat v2 is a complete rebuild of the app.
It features a new design, better performance, a cleaner data model, and improved analytics.

While v1 focused mainly on basic habit tracking, v2 is built as a long-term foundation for deeper insights and future features.

No, data from HabitHeat v1 cannot be migrated automatically.

Because v2 uses a completely new database structure, there is no safe way to transfer data without risking inconsistencies or data loss.

You can continue using v1 to view your old data and manually transfer anything important to v2.

Yes. HabitHeat v1 remains available at v1.habitheat.com.

However, v1 is now in maintenance mode. It will not receive new features or updates and exists mainly so users can access or manually transfer their existing data.

HabitHeat was rebuilt because the original codebase became difficult to maintain and limited future development.

Version 2 introduces a cleaner architecture, improved performance, and a more flexible foundation.
This rebuild makes it possible to develop HabitHeat further without repeating the same technical compromises.

Accounts & Data

HabitHeat uses Google Firebase to store user data securely.
Authentication is handled by Firebase, and HabitHeat does not store passwords itself.
Only your email address and habit-related data are stored to provide the app’s functionality.

Your data is private in the sense that it is not shared, sold, or made public.

Habit data is stored in a structured database and is not end-to-end encrypted.
As the developer, I technically have access to the database for maintenance and development purposes, but user data is treated with care and never used for anything outside improving HabitHeat.

All insights or statistics shared publicly are fully anonymized and aggregated.

Yes.
At the moment, account deletion is handled manually. If you want your account and data deleted, please contact:

support@habitheat.com

A self-service account deletion option will be added directly in the app in the future.

No.
HabitHeat does not sell, rent, or share user data with third parties. User data is only used to operate the app and to improve HabitHeat in an anonymized way.
